About FoodSolve
FoodSolve is a podcast about certain issues and solutions regarding food insecurities and food deserts. Due to the over-exportation and high prices on fresh produces, some individuals in low socioeconomic areas experience a scarcity of healthy fruits and vegetables. Such regions are usually found in the Global South as these countries fall below the equator. This is an issue responsible for many malnutrition and poor health cases in the world today.
With the new and innovative technology, scientists are able to genetically modify organisms (GMOs) such as crops. The intent of genetically modified organisms is to increase yield, avoid pests, resist harsh environmental conditions, and increase nutritional components of the organisms. As a result, these low socioeconomic regions now have access to healthy foods at a lower cost.
In addition to genetically modified crops, there are various family-centered organizations and programs created to assist geographical areas with food scarcities and insecurities. These organizations and programs include but are not limited to: Wholesome Wave, Jones Valley Teaching Farm, Food Mobile, Ample Harvest, Fresh for Florida Kids Teaching Garden, and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Suggesting and discussing these solutions could benefit the world for the future.
